Action item: Take a few minutes to answer these questions.

  1. Am I ready for the change?
  2. Why do I want to change in my life?

Am I ready to commit to making the necessary changes to be all that I was created to be?

  1. 1 Be at peace with who you are

I haven’t always been comfortable with who I was. I was certainly not comfortable in my own skin. I would see others and be envious of who they were or what they had. I wanted to keep up with the Jones’ so to say. I wanted to brag about things I had or did. It made me feel like somebody important when others envied me for a change. I was a small person living in a small person’s life.

Finding our confidence is a must for success. We have to be comfortable with who we are. We have to look inside to find real meaning. This is where we come into contact with our core values, what we believe and stand for in life. Without these, we will find emptiness in life.

Little did I know that being comfortable with myself had nothing to do with things. It has to do with looking inside and figuring out why I think the way I do. I had to find why I was lacking self-confidence. I lived with a lot of insecurities for a long time. Part of it had to do with my childhood and being around kids that belittled others as a sport. I always wanted to fit in and would follow the crowd to do so. Of course, now I know that those other kids did what they did because they lacked self-confidence also, that was their way of gaining power.

I have come a long way, but still, struggle with these things from time to time. I like who I have become. I have found that being the real you is much better than pretending to be someone else just to fit in. I love who God has created me to be. I found my true self when I allowed God to teach me self-awareness, to face my fears, and to forgive myself and others. I was honest with myself and dug deep inside to see what made me think the way that I do. I chose to embrace the imperfections that I found and accept them. I am not perfect, nor will I ever be, but I will try every day to be the best me that I can. I want to be honest with myself for the first time in my life. I don’t want to live in fear any- more or hide my true self because of what I think others want me to be.

Finding how to be comfortable in our own skin is one of the most powerful things we can do for ourselves. Everywhere you go, there you are. If you’re not truly at peace with yourself, life will be a constant struggle. Life is not meant to be a constant struggle. Life is about learning, growing, and coming to terms with our past and present shortcomings. It’s okay to have flaws and to make mistakes. It’s okay to have a past of which you are not proud. However, it’s not okay to continually dwell on the negative and stay stuck. Start being kind to yourself today. Talk to yourself as you would a friend. If we talked to our friends the way that we talk to ourselves we wouldn’t have many friends. We are all wonderfully and beautifully made and we should accept that as God’s truth.

Action item: Honestly ask yourself these questions.

    1. “Am I being my true self?”
    2. “Am I living the life I want to live?”

Decide today to forgive yourself and others, love yourself and others, and be all that God created you to be. You owe yourself that. Dare to be yourself and find out how great it feels.
